For everyone who had lived in Soviet Union after 1975, this film was the New Year movie. So it remains for me. This year, we watched it on the New Year’s eve in Edinburgh. For the first time, Yuri was following it, from time to time providing the running English translation, such as “Every year on the 31st of December we go to the bath-house”.
The songs in the film are performed by Alla Pugacheva and Sergey Nikitin (both uncredited).
